An American Music Program (AMP) sextet will play Jimmy Mak’s in NW Portland on Monday, March 16, 2015, from 7:00pm to 8:15pm, as part of AMP’s on-going series of “Road to New York” benefit shows. Perhaps you have already heard, but the AMP Pacific Crest Jazz Orchestra took first place at the Charles Mingus Festival in NYC in February (!) — and they are headed back to NYC in May as finalists in the prestigious Essentially Ellington competition at Lincoln Center, in addition to traveling to Monterey, CA, later this month for the Next Generation Jazz Festival. Proceeds from this show will help support students’ participation in these national band festivals. It will feature special guest trombonist John Fedchock. See the poster below (click to make larger) for details on who’s playing, cover charge, etc.; or call Jimmy Mak’s at 503 295-6542 or visit www.jimmymaks.com for more information. Looking forward to seeing you all there!
