Ainslie is a sophomore at Battle Ground High School in Battle Ground, WA, where she currently plays in the Advanced Jazz Band and has played with the wind ensemble. She began playing trombone when she attended middle school at Tukes Valley Middle School in Battle Ground. During her 8th grade year at Tukes Valley, Ainslie played with her middle school jazz band, the Battle Ground High School intermediate Jazz Band, and the Metropolitan Youth Symphony Jazz Band.
In both middle school and high school, Ainslie has won numerous soloist awards and recognition at the Clark College Jazz Festival, West Salem Jazz Festival, Clackamas County Jazz Festival, and the Pleasant Hills Jazz Festival. She also won the outstanding musician award for her middle school. Ainslie first began taking lessons with Aaron Lavere when he was the lead trombonist at the Oregon Symphony. She has also studied with jazz trombonist Stan Bock, taken a master lesson with Mic Gillette, and taken part in the Mel Brown Jazz camp during the summers of 2013 and 2014. During the summer of 2015 she participated in the Alessi Seminar with Joseph Alessi, Peter Ellefson, and Henry Henniger.
Ainslie first began playing with the AMP’s Pacific Crest Jazz Orchestra in the summer of 2014 and played in AMP’s Giants of Jazz Benefits concert in September 2014 with Bennie Maupin and Terrell Stafford.
